Iphone 14 screen doesn't stay unlocked/goes to sleep?[Always On feature?]

I have had an Iphone X for almost 4 years. With that phone I was able to

play YT videos, close the screen, listen to the video/podcast, pause the

video with my airpods for aslong as I want then start it again from my

airpods without having to open the phone and start again. I could also

watch videos, pause them for aslong as I want without the screen

locking.

I just purchased an Iphone 14 and this feature doesn't seem to exist on the device. Im

unable to change this setting in display-brightness settings either. I

want to be able to start watching a YT video, pause it, walk away from

it then come back to it without having my screen lock and the app close.

Before I take my phone back I want to be sure there is some way to activate

this feature. I've researched this and apparently Iphone 14's dont come

with a supposed "Always-on" feature which is apparently what Im

referring to although I dont remember Iphone X's ever having these. It

was just standard.

Hi Zigzagzoo,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like you have questions about the "Always-On" feature. This feature is available to iPhone 14.

Always-On display is on by default on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
To interact with your iPhone, raise it, tap the screen, or press the side button. If you use Raise to Wake, raising and looking at your iPhone wakes your iPhone as usual. You can also swipe up from the bottom of your display to wake iPhone and activate Face ID authentication.

Always-On display goes dark when you don't need it

To save battery life, the display is completely dark when:
* Your iPhone is lying face down
* Your iPhone is in your pocket or bag
* Sleep Focus is on
* Low Power Mode is on
* Your iPhone is connected to CarPlay
* You're using Continuity Camera
* You haven't used your iPhone for a while (your iPhone learns your activity patterns and turns the display off and on accordingly, including if you set up an alarm or sleep schedule)
* Your iPhone detects that you moved away from it with a paired Apple Watch (Always-On display will turn on when your Apple Watch is close to your iPhone again)

Use Always-On display with your iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max - Apple Support

Regards.

I have a 14, not a 14 pro. I don’t want my phone to lock or got to sleep unless I manually lock it. If I’m listening to a podcast or watching a YT video and pause it for more than 30 seconds then it locks. This requires me to unlock the phone, open the app and start the video again. It’s really annoying, especially if I’m driving or working.

Does this make sense?

*FIXED* Ok so the issue wasn't anything to do with the lock screen. It was to do with the Auto-lock. For some reason on my Iphone 14 settings this option didnt appear or I didnt see it when I initially opened the settings. Problem is fixed and now I can play YT videos with the screen minimised and pause and start all I want.
