Messages to Android “not delivered” suddenly

A few days ago I started getting the “not delivered” sign for whenever I sent a text to an android device. The message DOES go through, and I can receive responses, but it still gives me the “unable to deliver” message. I’ve reset my phone, cleared memory, reset network settings, etc to help, but nothing has come of it. I Can still call androids, but still receive the “not delivered” whenever I text.

iPhone 12, iOS 16

Messages to non-iPhones use SMS for text and MMS for attachments. But are carrier-provided services, so if they don’t work you must contact the carrier’s tech support to resolve the problem.

There are technical settings on your phone that are required:

  • For SMS you must have a cellular network voice connection, as it uses the voice signaling channel ("SS7 network”)
  • For MMS you must have cellular data enabled, even if you have a Wi-Fi connection; MMS cannot use Wi-Fi
  • For MMS the switch for MMS in Settings/Messages must be ON
  • NOTE: The SMS switch in Settings/Messages can be on or off; it only applies to messages to iPhones when the recipient’s phone does not have iMessage enabled.

If these are all met then you need help from the carrier.
