How can I dispute charges from VPN MOBAPPS LIMITED?? They are impossible to get ahold of. No phone number and emails are returned. Can PayPal help with this?

PayPal Lumi MOBAPPS

My bank didn’t have any other info than what was listed on my end so after a quick google search I found this post and a few others. I thought I’d share the little info I have. Not much though.

2 days ago I had 6 (yes, SIX) $0.99 charges on my Wells Fargo card (linked to PayPal) from this company, Lumi. I didn’t know where it was coming from. Like many here I’d been looking at the fashion advice booklet. I went through the process and was going to buy the “advice” for $0.99 but then changed my mind and actually quit the whole thing before completing!! They obviously had captured my CC details though because they started charging away!! My bank blocked the charges and contacted me. As soon as I said I didn’t recognize the charges (I didn’t, it was a few days later and I’d forgotten the name etc) they cancled and reissued my card.

I don’t use my debit card for anything. I use my credit cards for everything (but PayPal is linked to my debit card/bank account).

This morning I get a text asking if I recognized a transaction for the same company for $49.99!

I log onto my bank and see they’ve tried twice to charge $49.99 (bank blocked and reversed) but to my NEW debit card that was just mailed! I don’t even have it and it hasn’t been activated!! 🙄 I’m sure it’s just being rolled over from the previous card but it actually lists the last digits of the new card! Asking if I authorized transactions on that specific card number. Which means Wells Fargo transmitted that card number and details back to Lumi electronically!!

so infuriating.

So my new card has been compromised before it’s even arrived!

If your PayPal account is linked to your bank you can ask your bank to reverse the charges and block them from charging anything by closing the card. However, that doesn’t seem to be a fail proof method as seen above since they were able to charge again before I even received my new card. These companies are shameless!!

im also contacting PayPal to complain. The more people that complain hopefully they’ll boot offending companies from doing business with them. If we don’t speak up they don’t know there is a problem.

if it’s not the actual company but their business collection side they need to fix that!! That’s still on them!

Hello,

I wanted to reply to the person who got MOBAPPS charges on their PayPal. I did too, after signing up for a .99 "Fashion Guide," which I did not receive, and I chose not to subscribe. However, I WAS subscribed by them and charged $49.99. I contacted support@lumi.place, explained the situation, and received an email reply within minutes. I was told that I had subscribed to a monthly plan and couldn't get a refund (per their policy) but she said she canceled my subscription and there would be no future charges. I will certainly check to see if this is the case. I hope that this contact information will be helpful to anyone else, as well.

Same thing happened. I was able to stop any future charges via PayPal and after reaching out to the company I was extremely surprised to find full refunds. So they are blocked and deleted for ever for me, I hope.

I mentioned in my complaint that I had seen several others from the Apple community and PayPal communities that had same experience. And i mentioned not too nicely the the CEO should be facing legal repercussions for the scam they are running .

doubt I’ll actually ever see a penny but at least im done with them.

helpful - that explains how the charges started for me - i signed up for a fashion guide as a test for $0.99 but didn't sign up for ongoing subscription. i can't get in touch with them for a refund either. but thanks for sharing - at least i know there hasn't been a security breach of my Paypal account and it's instead, a problem of a sneaky, unethical, slimy business that i will continue to contact for a refund. i was able to cancel the recurring payment in Paypal and change my account info so they can't charge me again.

The company is built on deceptive practices. Exactly as you described. It billed my debit card twice thru PayPal and then, when I added a credit card to my PayPal account it billed that! That is when I got a notice of possible fraudulent activity from my bank. I have flagged them with my bank, reported them to our fraud department and deleted all my cards from PayPal who I will not be using again.
