Can I use an SSD as an external Media Drive for Movies and Music?
I want to use an external media drive for movies and music; can I use an SSD for that or is an HDD better?
Thank you, Michael

Not that I can think of. SSD's are faster of course but media files aren't that demanding. I've certainly never had an issue playing movies or music from an external HDD. Someone else may have a differing opinion.
One more tidbit to this, If you often times transfer large quantities of files or large size files from one drive to another, this is when it would be advantageous to have an SSD. A time saver for large file transfers.
An HDD would certainly be cheaper and would be adequate.
Thank you very much. Leaving aside cost, is there a technical advantage to the HDD for media? Michael
If I’m not losing anything important, and it costs less, I see an HDD in my future. Thank you for replying.
You're welcome.
The external drive I’m looking for is just for media. My Mac Mini (2020) has an SSD.
Thank you for being helpful.
Michael
