iPad has started freezing in apps

Like others, my iPad 5th gen has started freezing periodically. Forced restarts can work, but then I loose what I have already done and it is getting very inconvenient. I bought this to replace my macbook pro that quit working and my previous iPad and my mac mini barely works. So this iPad is essential for me to work. I have my phone, but at my age, I really dislike trying to work on it. It seems many people are having the issue with freezing and I am also again sometimes having issues connecting to wifi again and have to resort to turning it off and back on. Is there some sort of good resolution to these issues? I just had this happen while typing a message to a client in VRBO and had to shut down and restart. I lost what I had already typed, and it is a problem to have to keep doing this over and over. Really hoping there is a good resolution for this.

I am sorry, my apology, it is an iPad pro, 12.9” and I have the keyboard also. I got one with 1 TB capacity and have not come close to using the space. I have had issues in the past with connecting to wifi and it had to finally be reset and then everything worked fine until recently. Now I have had the issues with freezing and sometimes with connectivity issues on occasion.
