I just bought an iPad. I want to receive calls on it. But when I answer my iPhone I want to push the speaker button & start talking. Instead the speaker button does not operate. I have to het options such as answering my iPad. I don’t want to answer my iPad when answering my phone. It makes no sense to me, why the speaker button does not stay connected when I push it

One option could be to disable calls on your iPad until you are ready to make a call with that device. You can manage this setting on your iPhone and iPad:
You can also Route and automatically answer calls on iPhone. To set your iPhone speaker as the default audio output, go to: Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Call Audio Routing, then choose an audio destination.
