iPad OS 17 and iPad Pro 10.5"

I have an iPad Pro 10.5" - the second generation of iPad Pros - but it's not referred to as a "2nd Generation" iPad Pro in the "About" info in the Settings menu, it is listed as Model Name: iPad Pro (10.5-inch) with a Model Number of A1701. The info about iPadOS 17 shows that it will support "iPad Pro (2nd Generation and later)" (see attached screenshot.)

So, my question is, for the purposes of updating my iPad Pro, will it be supported by iPadOS 17? Seems to be a shame, and just creating more e-waste, if six-year-old devices will no longer be supported by Apple. (The same goes for my 2017 iMac 5k)

While explicit compatibility with iPadOS17 has not [yet] been confirmed by Apple, consider that the iPad Pro 10.5” is effectively a second generation iPad Pro.

Until or unless information to the contrary is released by Apple, it is anticipated that the iPad Pro 10.5” will support iPadOS17.

I have the same question, However, I can attest that iPad pro 10.5 can be updated.

You can see bottom of this page: iPadOS 17 Preview - Apple. Among the annotations, apple mentioned some restrictions on iPad pro 10.5. So, obviously, iPadOS 17 partly support iPad pro 10.5. At least, you can install it.

I have a similar question. I have the iPad 11” pro, and it it cost £800 only a few years ago. Model number A1980 which isn’t listed as second generation. I cant believe it has been grand fathered already from an so perspective as it wont support iPad so 17. 😩

Yeah, iPad Pro 10.5-inch will get iPad OS 17. It's officially announced by apple.

I am really sad that my iPad Pro 10.5 inch is supported by iOS 17 but I didn’t get to update to it because the screen kept turning off when voiceover was on and the screen was cracked so I feel really bad.
