messages from iPhone to mbp

Why when I message on phone does my conversation not always show up on my mac? I looked up and what it says is to go to Messages on mbp and settings and forward message in iCloud.Well my settings do not show that at all. Sometimes Apple needs to respect those of us with older systems that do not have the same settings. My computer is up to date with Venture 14.0. My phone is a lot older, but I am not ready to buy a new one with all new settings that I don't understand and probably don't want.. Someday I may have to. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to make my current devices work.

What version of iOS do you have on your phone?

As long as your phone is using iOS 8.1 or later it is possible. Make sure both devices are using the same Apple ID. The text forward messaging option is available on your iPhone, not the Mac. If it is not shown, then make sure iMessage is turned on. These 2 support articles will show you the setup for the Mac and the iPhone.

my phone is on 12.5.7

I get imessages but I cannot send an email from roadrunner email box. When I do I get a message that I cannot send message using AOL even though I did not use AOL to send the message in the first place. I was yesterday able to send an email message from my computer (MacBook pro) but not my phone.

Messages and the settings related to forwarding messages as noted in the original post are totally different than the email problem in you second post. For the email problem with your roadrunner account on your phone, you should delete the current roadrunner Mail account, then add back in using this:

Add RoadRunner Mail to iPhone

Make sure to use the "Other" mail type when adding and use the settings provided. Step 11 gives you settings to use if you are able to receive mail, but not send them. Use the IMAP settings so that when you delete the mail on your iPhone, it will also be deleted on your Mac.

The age of your iPhone is not a problem and will work fine sending and receiving Mail. The syncing with your Mac is accomplished by using the IMAP mail protocol instead of POP and does not require any forwarding or syncing settings on your devices to make that happen.

Thanks for responding. I do have two problems-one with email roadrunner, and the one with messages.

I did find on my computer a place in settings that said sync. So I press sync. Can't say except maybe for one message that is worked, but I can't doing this all the time.I just want it to work.

Then there is the issue with roadrunner mail. I'll try to delete and reinstall one to begin with but I've done this before and it did not make a difference when it came to mailing emails out. I have had these email boxes for years and years. I have lots of people signed up to use each one of them but I cannot easily answer them because mail I send ends up in the outbox. Then I send them from iCloud or aol but that is screwing up all my email boxes I use for specific reasons.

Now I have a 3rd issue recently started. When I use a map in car, it says I cannot connect to the Internet. WHY IS THIS HAPPEENING? I count on GPS. Never had a problem before-ever. Sometimes it comes back but I count on using the map when I am out driving. I am so fed up!

Readers here are other users. While Volunteer Readers may have a remarkable DEPTH of understanding on a particular issue, it is unlikely (but not impossible) that one Reader has an appropriately deep understanding of Multiple issues.

For best results, "One problem to a discussion, unless they are somehow all intertwined".

Also, remember to choose a Title for your new discussion that will attract The Readers with expertise in the area of importance. For example, this discussion Title is "message from iPhone to mbp" and you are now adding questions about email and Maps in CarPlay.
