That's a new one I've never heard of. So you're saying when you powered the watch on for the first time it didn't show it needed to be brought near the phone you want to pair to? It actually turned on to a view of the globe?

You say it's a new watch. Exactly what model watch is it? Apple currently sells the Series SE, 8 and Ultra. And again, what model iPhone do you own? Settings > General > About > Model and Version

Is this a brand new Apple Watch or did you purchase a used Apple Watch?

When you try to pair the watch to your iPhone what happens and what message do you see on the screen?

Is your iPhone updated to iOS 16.5? A brand new Apple Watch will come with WatchOS 9, which will only pair with an iPhone running iOS 16 at a minimum. I had also asked what your current iOS version is?
