Why does ChatGPT need my Apple ID and password

I downloaded ChatGPT but was reluctant to enter my Apple ID and password. Why do they need that from me and is it safe?

I have been using my Apple ID to log into many sites. Is that now going to be a problem. It always ask me for the second security code before it allows the id to proceed

If you log into an Apple site, such as this one, you would use your Apple ID. Never use your Apple ID and Password when logging into another site. The password is key here, as your Apple ID is usually just your email address and an email may be required, but do not use you Password that is associated with your Apple ID. Apple does provide a feature called "Sign in with Apple" that is safe to use and is not giving the website your Apple ID and Password.

I would not give ChatGPT my Apple ID Password.

I've used ChatGPT both from a computer and from my iPhone. I was never required to give my Apple ID. I was required to set up an account using an email address and passcode, as is common. As it happens, I used the same email address as my Apple ID, though I could have used a different one if I had one. But, I never, ever use the same password for anything else that I used for my Apple ID.

It's great that you're cautious about sharing your personal information. However, I want to clarify that ChatGPT, , is not a product or service that requires your Apple ID and password. If you're being asked for such information, it might be a phishing attempt or a scam.

To ensure your safety online, never share your Apple ID and password with anyone, especially if it's not a legitimate and well-known service provider....Instead of providing your credentials, I strongly advise against downloading any suspicious apps or files from untrusted sources..

If you're interested in using ChatGPT, make sure you're downloading it from a legitimate source, such as the official OpenAI website or a trusted app store. If you're looking for a mobile version, make sure to search for the official ChatGPT APK on trusted platforms.

Remember, your online security should always be a top priority. Stay cautious and only trust reputable sources when it comes to downloading applications or sharing personal information.....
