Hello anggie246,

If iCloud Messages is enabled, then messages are stored in iCloud, and if they are deleted from the device, they are removed everywhere and not retrievable. You can check if iCloud Messages is enabled by tapping on Settings > [your name] > iCloud. If Messages is toggled on, then iCloud Messages is enable. Data stored in iCloud is not included in backups.

If iCloud Messages is not enabled, then it is possible that the messages may be included in a backup. You would need to locate a backup from before the messages were deleted. Information on how to locate iOS backups is available here: Locate backups of your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

If there is an available backup, then you will need to restore that backup. Here is how: Restore all content to iPhone from a backup - Apple Support

Keep in mind that restoring a backup to a device will remove everything that is currently on the device. Be sure the device is backed up if this data is needed. Backing up to a different location is recommended to avoid writing over the backup needed.

Have a good day.
