Apps on iPad and iPhone

How can I turn off so that apps i download on my iPad dont come on my iPhone? Does anyone know?

To prevent apps downloaded on one device from automatically downloading to other devices, turn off Settings > App Store > App Downloads.

That's the only setting I'm aware of and works on both my iPhone/iPad and my wife's iPhone/iPad. The only thing I can think to try is restarting both devices; if it's still not working, Contact - Official Apple Support
