Has anyone had luck with the RNDIS Ethernet Gadget for USB SSH into a raspberry pi?

I've tried the HoRNDIS package, I've tried the various recovery reboot and permissive settings. Trolled the web for solutions and tried almost all of them. Best I can see is that HoRNDIS.kext installed in /Library/Extensions and managed to load.

OS: Ventura M1 Silicon.

When I plug in a raspberry pi via USB --> I get nothing. Can't see it on IO Explorer, it doesn't show up in /dev, and it definitely doesn't show up under Network Services. Security pane has no open issues.

This used to be a no-brainer (pre Ventura) but now I have spent days trying to SSH into a raspberry pi over USB and and finding that Apple just doesn't want to support this at all. This seems like a fairly basic ask for something that was supported for almost a decade. Apple...please help developers continue to use your platform.

Help??

It seems ssh works vis the network, without any add-ons, based on this:

But if you want to connect via USB networking, that too appears to work, based on this:

Given this stuff disables system integrity protection as part of its install, have backups.

As I (only briefly) mentioned, I tried all the above - 4 different methods - for installing and getting HoRNDIS to work. This included all the various security bypasses and Recover Mode options to force Ventura to accept and load a kext. I did get it to load but never saw the pi over USB ever.

My older Mac has no problem with this.

None of my efforts worked on the updated version of Ventura with M1 silicon

Does anyone else have recent success getting ssh working over USB on latest Ventura (with raspberry pi or Debian)? What were the exact steps you followed? How did you get RNDIS to reappear under network services? Will Apple ever support USB gadgets again, or is that becoming a Linux relic?

As a side note, I have pivoted to figuring out how to get ssh over Bluetooth on RasberryPi Os (bullseye). This would offer a similar “local” solution Similar issues with finding working examples for this, as Linux commands seem to change significantly with every release.
