iCloud data recovery takes forever than crashes

So I’ve deleted some files, and now I’m trying to restore them using iCloud.com on the browser. And while I’m thankful that this feature exists, it’s full of fail.

  1. the “Select All” feature doesn’t work and trying to restore all available files results in a crash every time: No seriously, EVERY TIME..
  2. and because were in the “Tim Cook era“ where things don’t just work anymore, you cant just hold Shift and easily checkbox a row of consecutive files, you have to select 3 at a time, scroll the window, then select another 3, then scroll the window and so on…
  3. https://youtu.be/5l-YaEIjpDg
  4. Thankfully, it’s not my files I’m recovering, it’s for a client who’s paying me upward of $100 an hour to sit here and click 3 files at a time and recover them… They’re probably going to be very upset when I hand them the bill, so I’m recording this whole fiasco.
  5. I’m posting here to see if anyone knows of any other way to do this faster so I’m not up till 5 AM exhausting myself. Or is the check 3 files and recover, the only method available?

See what happens when you download all of iCloud. You might be able to recover items that way. Use my user tip: Getting a Quick and Direct "iCloud Drive-to-External Hard Drive" Download - User Tip

"Any chance you solved this puzzle? I'm having the exact same issue now and am losing my mind. Sometimes I can load 5 files without it crashing and other times not. SO frustrating! Also, when it does the whole restore thing (which takes 5 minutes every time) it always comes up with 4,972 files. No matter how many files I've already restored it still loads the same number. I'm wondering if I'm making any progress at all, and if there are actually more than 4,972 files."

Well, thanks for taking the time to respond, but I’m using the data recovery feature to recover recently DELETED FILES.

I checked out that page that you showed me, and there was only 1 file and recently deleted.

well, it looks like I’m gonna be sitting here for days, selecting three files at a time because it crashes when you select 15 or 20
