Apple Music extremely buggy

Hi, I’ve been a subscriber of Apple Music since it first came out, and I’ve been very happy with the service up until now. Over the past several weeks, it’s been extremely buggy. If I open a playlist and switch applications, even quickly and go right back to the playlist, it will have closed out completely and put me back on the main page which is irritating. It will also not allow me to add new songs to my library or playlists, outright refuses to unless I shut off my phone and restart it, which is also extremely annoying. It will skip songs on a playlist for no reason, and refuse to load others. After weeks of this I’m at my wits end. Any tips? Is there a patch coming? Should I switch to something else?

Let me attach a diagram of how the 'feedback' process works.

I love how when you look behind the silver curtain of Apple products the reality is they are just as deficient at reporting bugs and fixing them as Microsoft. If a company doesn't have an actual procedure in place to get customer feedback to fix bugs and issues they will never bubble up to the developers. A community forum telling people to reboot their modem doesn't fix software bugs.

They shouldn't have to rely on finding issues AFTER people give up on their products and unsubscribe or their sales go down.

Even companies like Synology don't find bugs because everyone who works on their "ticket system" is just incentivized to close out tickets and not bubble up bugs. Even large companies like RedHat when paying them multi millions on contracts don't always agree to fix issues found by big spending organizations who subscribe to their support plans. Regardless RedHat probably has the best execution of support that at least passes by a developer and gets decisioned on with a community page about the issue, and an ETA for a solution if they do agree there is a bug.

Nice, we can agree to disagree. I won't waste my time looking for the countless examples of this not being the case.

But, this leads to me to ask, why do you have 81,000+ posts on the Apple forum defending Apple? Unless, of course, you are being paid by Apple. I'm glad I don't spend my entire life on this site, so I do have other hobbies than Apple!

This is a user-to-user technical support forum, not the way to report issues to Apple. That fact that you are unaware of Apple's procedure for getting feedback on bugs doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

And, if you're a developer or beta tester, there are additional mechanisms.

Hi ThymeDfarms

welcome to the Apple (user-to-user) Community

Re: "Apple Music extremely buggy"

Wondering if you are using the newest iOS version on your iPhone:

About iOS 16 Updates - Apple Support says iOS 16.5 is the latest.

Sometimes, as Apple adds features and make changes, our earlier ways of doing things may also need to change.

Re: "Is there a patch coming?"

As we are all Apple users, like yourself, in the Community, likely no-one here would have knowledge of what Apple intends.

Re: "Should I switch to something else?"

Entirely up to you, and whether or not you want to strengthen your patience, and your tolerance.

Re: "Any tips?"

Check through Apple support's latest "how to" / "Apple Music" articles for the methods Apple suggests:

Eg: Add and download music from Apple Music - Apple Support

or

Create a music queue

says you can either:

Play a song, then let Autoplay pick similar songs to play next.

or

queue up music that you want to play next.

_____________

Also: for iOS 16 (or choose your iOS version at the top of the article):

Find new music

Add music and listen offline

Search for music

Create playlists

If you wish:

Send feedback to those who work behind the scenes at Apple. They will likely not reply, yet your feedback will be received by those who can make changes. Feedback highlights which devices and which operating systems are experiencing difficulties. If others are also experiencing similar difficulties, we may see them addressed in an update.

I don't share your cynicism. I've seen way too many things that people have complained about and submitted feedback for, changed.

But, this leads me to ask, why do you bother to complain about Apple not having a feedback process if you don't believe feedback processes work? Unless, of course, you just like to complain. In that case, if all the bugs were removed, you'd need to find another hobby.

Just because Apple reads all of the suggestions doesn't mean they see fit to implement them all. I understand that is a difficult thing for many people to understand.

I'm sure we are all happy you don't spend more time on these forums than you do.
