I have an iPhone 13 mini, my husband has my old iPhone 7 and I have an iPad. We share one Apple account and 2 email addresses, but have separate phone numbers. Text messages from my iPhone to my husband’s iPhone are only momentarily being flagged on the icon then they disappear, and there is no audible note. They go to my iPad which I don’t want them to do. I had a long conversation with a very pleasant and helpful agent this morning, and things seemed to work, but they don’t now!

sharing appleID is a bad idea, it make the 2 persons 1 person in the eye of all things apple

on the ipad if you go to settings->messages and turn off imessage

Hello,

Apple ID's are not meant to be shared. Each person should have their own ID. You will continue to have similar problems until one of you gets a new ID:

How to create a new Apple ID

If you want to share purchases and other information, consider setting up Family Sharing after the second ID has been created:

Good luck.

P.S. this will involve a fair amount of one-time setup work, but it will be worth it in the long term.
