How do I unsync my gmail contacts from my iPhone?

I'm not sure how I did it, but I synced all of my gmail contacts with my iPhone 3GS, and now I have 7,777 contacts, including multiples of every single person I have ever emailed.

How do I get rid of all of those without doing it manually, and keeping all of my iPhone contacts?
