IDFA stands for Identifier for Advertisers, and it is a unique device identifier used by Apple devices such as iPhones. The IDFA allows advertisers and app developers to track user activity and deliver personalized advertisements based on that information.

Up until iOS 14, the IDFA was automatically enabled for all users unless they specifically opted out. However, with the release of iOS 14 in September 2020, Apple introduced a new privacy feature called App Tracking Transparency (ATT), which requires apps to obtain explicit user permission before accessing the IDFA.

Under ATT, when an app wants to track a user's activity across other apps and websites for advertising purposes, it must display a prompt to the user, asking for permission to track. Users can choose to either allow or deny the tracking request. If they deny permission, the app will not be able to access their IDFA and track their activity for advertising purposes.

This change gives users more control over their privacy and allows them to decide whether they want to be tracked across apps for personalized advertising. It has significant implications for advertisers and the ad industry, as it affects the ability to deliver targeted ads and track the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.

You may get better and prompt responses if you may kindly provide the iPhone Model that you have and the iOS version if it is known to you and re-post.

With the limited information that you have provided, It is hard to even guess the problems faced by you.

Thanks SravanKa! My first time posting, just getting the hang of it here. I’ll repost with more specifics. (I sure like the idea of corporations and their advertisers finally having to take a little responsibility since historically, business has had more rights

and protections than individual human beings, meanwhile, the default is to put the onus on us to do all the work and hassle, and then they’re still left with a plethora of loopholes (*see CCPA as just one of a gazillion examples). I’m so tired of the constant barrage of invasive assaults in the form of advertisements on my/our privacy and my/our life!

All that said, I always take the time and hassle to opt out (should be opt in like in other countries wherein the citizenry enjoy better protections from corporate scum), and a particular opt out type thing asked for the IDFA and I’m unable to locate it in my phone. It looks like it was deleted when I opted for ‘No Targeted Advertising’. There must be a way to retrieve the IDFA after this though, correct?
