How to recover a forgotten password for Apple email account

Wondering if the password may be for an Apple iCloud e-address, or for an eMail provider (like Yahoo, GMail etc.)

For iCloud, you can generally log-in with the Apple ID and Apple ID password, (you likely used it to log in here).

For an account from an eMail provider, you can try checking in your Safari saved passwords:

or

You can go to the log-in page on the eMail provider's website, and see if the password auto-fills.

or you can generally click "forgot password" (reset, or something similar) on that page, and the provider will send an eMail with a new password, allowing you to log-in there and change the password to whatever you prefer.
