Hello Veez2793,

Thank you for reaching out regarding the issue you're experiencing with the sound on your MacBook Pro. I'm here to assist you with this matter.

If you don't see a built-in speaker option in the output menu on your MacBook Pro, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Check system preferences: Go to the Apple menu and select "System Preferences." Then, click on "Sound" and navigate to the "Output" tab. Make sure that the "Internal Speakers" option is selected as the output device. If it's not visible, proceed to the next step.

2. Restart your MacBook: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor software issues. Try restarting your MacBook and see if the built-in speaker option appears in the output menu after the restart.

3. Reset NVRAM/PRAM: Resetting the NVRAM (non-volatile random-access memory) or PRAM (parameter random-access memory) can help resolve certain hardware-related issues. Here's how to do it:

- Shut down your MacBook.

- Press the power button, then immediately press and hold the Option, Command, P, and R keys together.

- Keep holding the keys until you hear the startup sound for the second time, then release them.

- After resetting the NVRAM/PRAM, check if the built-in speaker option is available in the output menu.

4. Update macOS: Ensure that your MacBook Pro is running the latest version of macOS. Go to the Apple menu, select "System Preferences," then click on "Software Update." If an update is available, download and install it, as it may include fixes for audio-related issues.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, there may be a deeper software or hardware issue. I recommend contacting Apple Support or visiting an Apple Authorized Service Provider for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your MacBook Pro model and diagnose any potential hardware problems.

I hope these steps help in resolving the issue with the missing built-in speaker option in the output menu. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please let me know.

Best regards,

Lugab

Troubleshooting Internal Speakers:

Is there a Speaker Even Seen?:

In Sound under Settings or System Preferences, this would show under "Play Sound Effects Through"

How Else to Find Out:

  1. Go to: Apple menu
  2. Select: About this Mac
  3. Click: System Report... button
  4. View: Hardware on left-column
  5. Click: Audio
  6. Verify: MacBook Pro Speakers is seen

Hello Lugab!

The reason your post has been “Edited by Moderator,” is because you ask the OP to mark your response has “Helpful,” and “Best Answer.” Although very understandable, this is frowned upon, as stated in the ASC TOU.

You should have gotten an email explaining why your posts were edited, but I thought I’d explain a bit more, as the emails can occasionally lack sufficient details.

Please continue to provide excellent assistance to others here in the ASC, and have an amazing weekend! 😊
