My messages in icloud will not transfer to android

Using Smart Switch, everything in my iCloud has transferred to my Android except my messages.

I have:

Deregistred my iMessage

Emptied my iCloud online except for my messages (of course, there is no access to the actual messages)

Rebooted both phones and tried Smart Switch several times

Toggled Messages off and on

Deleted a lot of text messages off my phone (but storage levels will not change)

Researched countless articles for a fix, but nothing worked

Have more than enough space on my Android to hold the 5GB worth of text messages

My husband is having the same issues too.

Any advice on how to fix this?

Tried Samsung. After being transferred by a chatbot, I couldn't get a human on the line.

I also chatted with a human on Apple help and they couldn't help.

But I figured it out. I need a cable with the two different ports to connect the phones directly to each other. Wont transfer messages using wifi.
