Without my knowledge calls are made

If your device is locked, it can't make calls without or Face or Touch ID unlocking it.

Make sure your device is always locked before you put it in your pocket or bag.

If you see other indications, such as apps opening, you pressing one spot on the screen but other areas activating, cracked display, or lines on the screen, then your display likely needs to be checked.
