Samsung ml-2165w driver for Mac ventura - can't install

Hello. I've got new Mac with Ventura MacOS, but still would like to use old printer. But I can't find the driver. The link recommends in one of the previous discussions (https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/SS/Print_Common_SW/Samsung_Mac_Driver_V3.93.06.dmg) can't be downloaded, it gives "no such key" error message. Any advice?

This is how I got my Samsung ML-2165 working on macOS Sonoma. It should also work for the Samsung ML-2165W according to Reddit and this blog post.

  1. Download the universal printer driver from HP: https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/SS/Print_Common_SW/Samsung_Mac_Driver_V3.93.01.dmg. (HP acquired Samsung's printer division in 2016)
  2. Double click Samsung_Mac_Driver_V3.93.01.dmg in Downloads and open the MAC_Printer folder
  3. Double click Printer Driver.pkg
  4. Follow the steps until you get the Add Printer button and click this button.
  5. Select your printer, and in the Use: field, pick Select Software...
  6. Very important: select the Samsung M2060 Series.
    1. Don't use the 2165W driver selected by default as using this driver won't allow you to print.
  7. From here continue following the steps until the wizard is complete.

Hi,

Samsung printers are now part of HP. Could the latest V3.93.08 universal driver https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/SS/Print_Common_SW/Samsung_Mac_Driver_V3.93.08.dmg possibly be used? Look upon this as an experiment. You may have to choose another model (such as ML-2160, M2020 or M2070) if there is not any entry for your printer.

Make sure that you have backup copies of all important files before testing anything, Software conflicts cannot be ruled out.

If the manufacturer has stopped supporting the printer and no longer updates drivers then you are between a rock and a hard place. Apple does does develop printer drivers, that’s up to the manufacturer. Checking HP’s website the latest driver for your printer is for macOS 10.13 High Sierra.
