Is it safe to do the upgrade on my Mac myself from macOS Mojave to macOS Ventura?

My Mac is telling me that to update I need to upgrade from macOSMojave to macOSVentura. I am always afraid to do that on my own. Is it safe?

As long as you have a current Time Machine or other backup to fall back on in case something goes sideways it's safe. You should also know Mojave is the last version of macOS that supports 32bit software, so if you have older 32bit apps, they will need updated or replaced. You can check which one with Go64.

Follow dialabrain's advice to have at least one verified backup first. You can test the backup(s) by doing some selective restores of files and folders.

I have recently upgraded an iMac from Sierra (10.12) to Monterey 12.6.6.

We also just upgraded a MacBook Pro from Catalina 10.15 to Ventura 13.4 two days ago.

No issues with either one.

You have Mojave 10.14. If you have the good backups, you have nothing to worry about.
