Internet Not Working on My Mac?

Hi, I have two Macs, one in a home recording studio and one for other use. On one of the Mac’s, iMac from late 2022 (OS 10.9 Mavericks), my internet does not work since yesterday. Wifi connection is good. Both browsers, Safari and Firefox are not able to do anything. My other Mac the internet is fine. Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be?

iMac 24″, macOS 12.2

Ah yes... in the hub manager do you see a way to disable the 5GHz network?

Just checking, is where Internet comes into the house connected to the Red outlet at 5.?

Hard for me to follow with my age butting in, but see if there are any clues here...

Are you running any VPN, Anti-Virus, or Cleaning apps?

This may look difficult to some but is pretty easy taken step by step...

In Ventura exchange Sys Settings for Sis Prefs...

Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.

The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

Sys Prefs>Network>highlight the Interface you're using>Advanced>TCP/IP>Configure IPv4: Using DHCP.

If using Wifi, instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

System Preferences>Network>choose interface>Advanced>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTP & HTTPS.

System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

8.8.8.8

8.8.4.4

1.1.1.1

9.9.9.9

Apply.

Ok, I have followed the steps as detailed below here …

1. System Preferences>Network>Location>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name. - I called it “DBAqua1”

2. System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose “Set Service Order.” The interface that connects to the Internet (Wi-Fi) should be dragged to the top of the list. - Done.

3. System Preferences>Network>highlight the Interface you're using (Wi-Fi) >Advanced>TCP/IP>Configure IPv4: Using DHCP. - It was already set like this.

4. If using Wifi, instead of joining your Network from the list, click the “WiFi” icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed. - I am joining my network which is already selected in the list.

5. System Preferences>Network> choose interface (Wi-Fi) >Advanced>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTP & HTTPS. - None were set.

6. System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet (Wi-Fi), click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

8.8.8.8

8.8.4.4

1.1.1.1

9.9.9.9

Then click “OK”. - I did this.

At the bottom right of “DBAqua location” window click “Apply” - Done.

The results are pretty much the same as it was in the automatic location. It does let me go into my emails in FireFox now so it is a bit better but not a lot. In Safari I can only go to the Google home page. In FireFox I can go to a few other places but it’s still really slow. In conclusion this has not fixed it. Could it be a virus? Could it be damage to the computer due to the power cut? Are there any other possibilities? Thanks again.

I may be being an idiot here but, I have chosen another network called BTWi-Fi because most of them in the list are locked, there is one other in the list that is not locked, but when I open a browser I get the message below …

The blue button “Open Network Login Page” doesn’t work. If you click on “Advanced” you get this message “Firefox does not trust this site because it uses a certificate that is not valid for www.google.co.uk. The certificate is only valid for the following names: www.btwifi.com, btopenzone.com, btwifi.co.uk, btwifi.com, www.btopenzone.com, www.btwifi.co.uk”

I’ll try the other unlocked network!

Sorry for not explaining it well enough...

4. If using Wifi, instead of joining your Network from the list, click the “WiFi” icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed. - I am joining my network which is already selected in the list.

So did you still use join Other?

Choose Join Other, but click on yours in the list, we just want to skip the steps where it auto joins it in the background.

The Other in this case will be yours!

I have joined like that but it hasn’t made any difference at all. Have you or anybody else heard of this problem before on Monterey? “I found this information in a YouTube video “If you’re connected to your wifi but you can’t get any websites to load you need to flush DNS cache?” Could that be a solution? Do you have any other ideas? Thanks again for your help.
