put text on existing wallpaper?

OK, I like one of the default lock screen wallpapers, but I'd like to add to it some text personal identification. So if someone picks up my phone, they'll know whose it is. I understand how to make wallpaper from a picture, but I don't understand how to add text to existing wallpaper. If I could pull my existing wallpaper that I like into Photos, I could then add text to it, but I don't know how to do that pulling. Help?

FWIW. I would think that you would need a photo editing app to superimpose text over an existing photo image. Since you already know how to make wallpaper from a picture, you would need to edit that picture with the desired text before converting it to wallpaper.

Well, the wallpaper I want to modify isn't in my photos. So the Photos app can't modify it. It's on my lock screen, and I can pull down on that screen to display the various wallpapers that are available for that lock screen. The issue is how to get a default lock screen wallpaper into Photos where it can be edited. I know how to modify photos, and I know how to convert a modified photo into wallpaper and install it on my lock screen.

Ok, got it.

See if the following will work:

  1. Open the Photos app on your iPhone and locate the wallpaper image that you want to add the text.
  2. Tap on the image to open it, and then tap the "Edit" button.
  3. At the top right of the screen you should find the "Markup" option. It is represented by a pen tip inside a circle.
  4. In the markup mode, you will find various options at the bottom of the screen. Tap on the plus "+" button.
  5. From the pop-up menu that appears, tap on the "Text" option.
  6. Then tap anywhere on the image where you want to add the text.
  7. A keyboard will appear, allowing you to enter the desired text. Type in the text you want to add and customize it using the available options, such as font style, size, color, and alignment.
  8. After entering the text, tap "Done" or "Save" to apply the changes and exit the Markup mode.
  9. Finally, tap "Done" or "Save" again to save the edited image with the added text to your Photos app.

Once you've completed these steps, the image with the added text will be saved as a separate file in your Photos app. You can then go to the Settings app on your iPhone and set this image as your wallpaper by selecting it from the Wallpaper settings.

OK, the easiest thing was just to look for a wallpaper that I liked (free jpg download). Loads available. I download one, edit in my text personal ID in an appropriate place, upload to my Photos, and then just create a lock screen wallpaper from that photo. I just did that, and it looks terrific. I sorta liked the default lock screen, but I can't find that as downloadable. The issue was turning that default lockscreen image into a Photo.
