Re: "My left ear AirPods won’t get recognised by the phone".


The "Related article" above your question has all the tips.

Eg: Sometimes a speck of dirt or wax can block an airPod.


You can try resetting the AirPods to see if that helps:

 How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support


Your iPhone may need updating to the latest compatible iOS version.

Eg: About iOS 16 Updates - Apple Support (says iOS 16.5 is the latest)


(The firmware on the AirPods can then be updated automatically when paired).


or

Sometimes restarting the iPhone restores order, if the AirPods have been pairing ok before. (How to: Restart your iPhone)


Try turning bluetooth off and back on.


Trouble-shooting tips: 

        What to do: If your AirPods won't connect - Apple Support

or

What to do: If you can't connect a Bluetooth accessory to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Maybe there's wireless interference from the left side when in your usual position:
