Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch


• If you have an iPhone 5S or 6/6plus, the highest you can update to is 12.5.7

• If you have an iPhone 6S through 7, or SE 1st generation, you can update to 15.7.6

• If you have an iPhone 8 or higher, or SE 2nd or 3rd generation,you can update to 16.5


Go to Settings > General > Software Update.

Hello


Everything said above is exactly how to update your iPhone. Some things to be aware of though:

Since it appears your device is currently running iOS 14, you will have to jump to iOS 16.5. You may have to individually update it (I haven’t had this experience before, so I am not positive), or you can directly update to the latest software. These updates may take a lot of storage and time because you will be going through so many other updates in between.
