Shiny keys...

I realize this may be inevitable, but it reflects poorly on the brand to have an expensive computer look like this in a short period of time. If alcohol won't fix it, how about some very, very fine grit paper to give the keycaps a little matte finish again like when they were new? Yes, I realize that putting dust from even gentle sanding into the recesses wouldn't be good, but let's say for argument that I could be very careful. :)

Don't do anything to those keys. You will just ruin the key caps. Most Apple keys are actually clear plastic painted black which is why many times the letters become rubbed off. The key cap is clear in order to allow the keyboard backlight to light up the key through the exposed clear plastic lettering.

Unfortunately some Apple key caps get shiny, others have the black paint rub off so you can no longer see the letter. Other Apple key caps just seem to hold up very well. The problem is that Apple usually sources parts from at least two different manufacturers, so the design & quality can vary. They do this in order to minimize the chances of having supply chain issues....good idea from Apple's perspective....not always a good idea from the consumer perspective.
