Your iPad should automatically set the correct time and date - unless device settings or your network prevent retrieval of network time:

Settings > General > Date & Time

Here you can see that Set Automatically is set to ON. When set as shown, the iPad should automatically set the correct date and time, as derived from your location, unless the network/internet connection blocks access to Apple’s Time Servers - or your location cannot be determined.

You’ll note the screenshot shows this setting “greyed out”, indicating that it cannot be changed. Recent versions of iOS/iPadOS will automatically lock this setting if a ScreenTime Password has been set. If necessary, to change this setting, the ScreenTime Password must be temporarily removed:

Settings > ScreenTime > Change ScreenTime Password > Turn Off ScreenTime Password

Removal of the ScreenTime Password, if set, requires knowledge of the current Password.

To manually Date and Time:

Settings > Date & Time > Set Automatically - set to OFF

When setting the Date & Time, ensure that you also select the correct Time Zone.
