Unable to Activate iCloud Mail

I am trying to activate iCloud Mail on an iPhone 12 running iOS 16.5. When I try to activate iCloud Mail, I receive an error indicating that there was a problem activating iCloud Mail and that I should try again later. I have tried again at least twice a day, but no change.

I have read that signing out of iCloud on the Device and then signing back in fixes the issue, but then would I have to do that on each device I want to use iCloud Mail with? Also is there an easier way around fixing the issue without having to sign out and then back into iCloud?

Hi CrazyShells Slam,

You'll need to create a primary iCloud email address on your device before you can use iCloud Mail. Please check out this link and ensure the correct process is being used, so we can make sure there aren't any issues there: Create a primary email address for iCloud Mail

Create a primary email address for iCloud Mail

You must create a primary iCloud email address on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac before you can use iCloud Mail. For an overview of what you can do with Mail and iCloud, see Send and receive iCloud Mail on all your devices and keep Mail settings up to date.

If you already have an @icloud.com (or an @me.com or @mac.com) email address, see Set up iCloud Mail on all your devices.

Create a primary iCloud Mail address on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
1. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud.
2. Tap iCloud Mail (or Mail), then follow the onscreen instructions to create an iCloud Mail address.

If you don’t see onscreen instructions after turning on iCloud Mail on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you already have a primary iCloud email address.

If you need to create a new Apple ID account, please check out this link, which will guide you through the process: How to create a new Apple ID

Thanks!
