Can I disable Face ID completely?

Can I disable my IR face picture every 5 to 10 seconds on my iPhone I don’t want that feature?

The statement is not false. iPhones really do take your picture every 5 to 10 seconds. Using an infrared camera. Any kind of night vision goggles, or technology can detect it. And there’s plenty of videos you can find where it proves that the iPhones do it

I have an iPhone 7 Plus and mine is doing it. I have a Meta Quest 2 and the headset uses 4 IR cameras on the outside so it can track the controllers. I watched my IR flash every. 5. Seconds. Again, I have an iPhone 7 Plus. There is no escape so long as you have an iPhone it seems

It is false. It is not taking pictures. That implies that it is capturing an image and storing it. it is NOT doing that.

It has a sensor that detects whether or not you are looking at the device. That is all. It is not capturing or storing anything.

Your face is awash in infrared light every day every time you step out of doors or are near a window.

If the way FaceID works makes you uncomfortable, you don't have to use it. You can use a passcode just as you always could.

If you have an Apple Watch, you may also be able to use that:

You can’t disable what does not exist. There is no “IR face picture” being taken.

It doesn't really take "secret pictures" of your face. It just checks your eyes to see if you are paying attention. See this:

Naw bro it states it takes pics of your face and eyes and saves it in a system where it can detect you even if you have something covering a portion or half of your face please read into your research.

But "taking pictures" sounds so much more nefarious!

This is so annoying. I’m finding that I have to charge my phone at least three times a day. This is obviously having a massive impact on the battery with this constantly flashing. Also I worry about the health implications of having this thing on all the time! I just want to work when I need face recognition for passwords and logins, et cetera. I don’t need it scanning my face 24 hours a day seven days a week. This is ridiculous.
