I didn't know that there was a posting limit … do I need to , or does it apply only when you first start ?

See the reply from TheBigApple101 earlier in this thread for a reference.

If you’re not encountering posting-related throttling, you’re either past the limit at Level 3 (if not past it at Level 2), or you are not posting often enough to trigger the throttling. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Apple AFAIK has not discussed the implementation details of the spam-related throttling. And changes in the implementation details across the decades would not surprise.

And remember we are not allowed to ask for or suggest that we get any points awarded. So it can take a while; I have never paid any attention to it. If you are here for the points, you will soon tire of the whole thing; the "regulars" are here because they enjoy helping others and I have learned a great deal just reading others' solutions.

Also be aware that very often, no matter how helpful or precise your help was, users often don't mark your answer with either a Helpful or Solved. The either mark nothing and are never heard from again, or they say something like, "Thanks! That worked!", and then mark their own "thanks" as Solved.

Basically, expect that you won't get points where you should have about a third of the time. It's partly why I and most regularly attending members pay no attention at all to points.

Hello 👋 ,

For reference , I've been at this since February 2020 .

I'm on level 3 , 618 points , and 24% of the way to level 4 .

I would say that I contribute somewhat regularly , often a lot at once .

The points / level up system changed over that 3 1/2 years and became too

🫤 confusing for me so I just quit paying attention to it . I'm still working on being mindful of marking the upvote icon and telling the person that their response worked out well for me .

You’ve been a member here since October 2019, and have accrued 42 points. That’s roughly a point a month, and is also roughly a third of the way to level 2 at 150 points.

Here is a direct link to how the points are accrued: Share what you know and get recognized - Apple Support

I’ve been at this since 2007, and in the middling for numbers of points acquired per day, as compared with the rates some other members acquire points. Some acquire hundreds of points per day. But this isn’t about them. Or me. It’s about you.

fiy I haven’t that’s just my Apple account age I’ve been doing this for at a max of 2 weeks

and posting this message I’ve reached my posting limit

In a month or so then, that posting rate limit message will go away.

That the forums aren’t overrun with spam is no small effort, and the early rate limit is part of that.

They’ll get a response… eventually. You’ll just have to wait for the limit to expire.

What I used to do, is answer questions, and then, when I tried to post “the last question”, the posting limit kicked in, and I was unable to post the question.

Then, I refreshed the page, which somehow lifted the posting limit one more time, so I could post the reply that I had been working on, and then that was that for a while.

So, unfortunately, this is the way it is until your reach Level 2. Good Luck!
