Apple TV Changing Language when Airplaying

Is anyone else experiencing an issue with the tv/movie language changing when air playing their Apple TV?

This issue is sporadic, inconsistent, and extremely puzzling. It happens, then stops, with no rhyme or reason.

My programs will play correctly on my iPhone, but sometimes when air playing to my tv, the language will randomly switch to Spanish, German, French, etc.

Apple tv settings are all English when this occurs. Tv settings are all English when this occurs. I know how to change these settings, so please do not reply with recommendations to do so.

This does not occur when air playing any other content to my tv, and seems to be an issue with the Apple TV app specifically.

The only workaround I have found is to use screen mirroring to my tv instead, but this is not ideal since you can’t close the apple tv application then.

This is how that works: The AirPlay receiving device has it own language settings that are applied to AirPlay streams. That means that a language configuration on the sending device will be ignored, if the receiving device has different settings and if that different language is available in the content.

What is your model AirPlay receiving device?

Do you stream to an Apple TV box, or to an AirPlay-enabled smart TV or AirPlay-supported third party streaming device?

  1. Apple TV boxes have their language settings in Settings﹥Video and Audio﹥.
  2. AirPlay-enabled smart TVs and AirPlay-supported third party streaming devices have Apple AirPlay Settings with language configuration, separate from other language settings for those devices.
