Refund when did not receive the package order

i was in the US for a quick trip and i ordered an airpods, later on the flight schedule happened before i received the package, i returned the item and apple said there is a return label but iam not there to put it on the package and the delivery company told me that the package will get back to the seller after 3 delivery attempts, so how to get a refund? and will i get the refund just by packaging back to apple and even without putting the return label on the package?
