Wrong "from" e-mail address in replies, only sometimes

I have an old AOL e-mail that I do NOT want to remove from my account, because some things that I'm signed up to will only use that account, & I can't change it. I wish I could... anyway, I use my .me account for everything else. Sometimes, when I'm replying to an e-mail that has been sent to my .me account, the "from" field will default to my AOL e-mail. I have the settings correct already: mail > settings > composing > send new messages from is set to my .me address. Furthermore, a reply to an e-mail that has been sent to my .me address isn't really a "new" e-mail; it should *always* send from the address the original e-mail was sent to. Help! This has been happening for quite a while. I'm upgraded to Ventura, but that isn't an option when it asks about which macOS I'm using.

Hi Leroy -

Thanks for your response. As I said in my original post, I already have my "send new messages" set to the e-mail address I want it to come from, which is my .me address. When I've got my e-mail composed (as in your second photo), I do have the option to change the "from" address, but the whole issue is that it should have defaulted to the .me address, especially if the e-mail to which I'm replying was sent to my .me address... but sometimes it defaults to the AOL address, even if that's not the address to which the original e-mail was sent. I'm assuming this is a bug with Apple, but in case I'm missing something, I wanted to ask here.

You should have some options in Mail> Settings

if you move your mouse to the right side, should reveal a drop down to choose from
