High CPU on MacBook Pro when starting video through streaming.

I own a MacBook Pro 16". Lately I have been having an issue where if I open a video from YouTube, Netflix, Twitch etc. the computer becomes unusable for some time and the mouse becomes laggy. I noticed that while that is happening my CPU reaches around 85% in the Activity Monitor, specifically the ContinuityCaptureAgent process. Also happens if I'm already watching the video and click the progress bar to jump to a different time or if the video is interrupted because of an ad. I've tried restarting my MacBook a few times and at first it seems that the problem gets fixed with the restart but a few days later it starts to do it again. Any help fixing this is appreciated, thanks.

Are you running any anti-virus software, cleaning/optimizer apps, or third party security software?

Are you using any browser extensions? These can cause problems as well.

Maybe even try streaming the video while booted into Safe Mode to see if it makes any difference.

Have you tried using another browser such as Firefox, Vivaldi, or Google Chrome to see if the issue exists there as well?

If you are streaming over WiFi, what is your WiFi connection and speed? Maybe your WiFi connection is not sufficient for streaming.

Maybe try power cycling your router in case the router is in a weird state. Maybe try connecting the laptop directly to the router using an Ethernet cable and a USB-C Thunderbolt 3 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.

Sounds normal...

If you Network speed is suspect get on a faster Network and compare your results if in doubt.

I can not help you with Ads. Most browser have an Ad-blocker available of some sort. If you are not using one I would. It is not going to stop all advertisements, fact of life.

There is nothing wrong with rebooting if it resolves your issue.

Try using a different browser and compare your results.
