Re: 10th gen iPad turns off unexpectedly- how to fix?
We have very little info about your iPad, (and it's use) to go on, so there could be any one of several possible causes in operation.
Eg:
Wondering if you are using Low Power Mode, if so, you might want to try turning it off during intensive tasks:
Use Low Power Mode to save battery life on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
If you haven't already, you might want to update to the newest iPad OS:
About iPadOS 16 Updates - Apple Support says iPadOS 16.5 is the latest.
or
Sometimes simply restarting an iPad can restore order if something is not working right.

Wondering if a certain app may be in use when the iPad turns off unexpectedly:
____________________________________________________________________________________
You might want to check your Ipad has plenty of memory / storage space free for the iPad's OS to work smoothly. ie: How to check the storage on your iPhone and iPad - Apple Support
If needed: See: "Manage space on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch" in the article below:
If you need more space for an update on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If you use third-party (non-Apple) apps they would need to be kept up-to-date to remain compatible with your iPad's OS.
Some apps, like add-blockers, virus checkers, cleaners, and the like can also cause interference. Even VPN etc., can be troublesome.
Eg: Try turning them off, or use the uninstaller from the developer, if found to be troublesome.

Check if the iPad runs out of power:
Monitor, and Charge the iPad battery - Apple Support
or what to do: If your iPad won't charge - Apple Support

All the best :-)
