Do the 2023 Mac Pro PCIE support cards with UEFI PCIe bifurcation
Do the 2023 Mac Pro PCIE support cards with UEFI PCIe bifurcation. I am wondering if NVME expansion cards that require the bifurcation will work.

I just tried an Asus Hyper m.2 nvme expansion card that does require bifurcation. Tried it with 1 and 2 name drives, and tried it in slot 4 and 5 on my Mac Pro 2023.
Nothing recognized in any case.

I believe that it is not supported. Again, only based on testing with a single PCIe card that requires bifurcation.
Hello Kbogner,
Thank you for a great question. I would and (now) do want to know for myself. After some digging this is the best I was able to find on Apple's support info. I hope that someone with more info will be able to shed some light on this for you.
PCIe cards you can install in your Mac Pro (2023) - Apple Support
Thank you

So, based on your experiments, you are suggesting that Bifurcation is likely NOT supported, is that right?
That's one more experimental result than anybody else has.
Kind of? My 2009 Mac Pro (5,1) allowed me to install a 1tb WD nvme PCI card that 'boots' 2021 Monterey 12.7 'slowly,' but once its on, it 'operates' VERY fast! I'm waiting on a Sonoma 14 drive!
