Check Apple menu -> System Settings -> Displays. Verify the display shows up there. If it doesn't, make sure that the HDMI input on the TV matches the number on the HDMI port of the TV, and try again. Use detect displays.

If it doesn't work, you may need to reboot the Mac.

If it still doesn't work, try adding the Display menubar icon from the System Settings and see if the display shows there. If it doesn't, it could be your adapter for HDMI needs more power. Many such adapters need the power of the notebook computer to be plugged into the adapter, and then the adapter in the notebook.

You may want to bring your Mac, and the adapter into an authorized service center where they can verify if the adapter is itself faulty or underpowered.

I spent a couple of hours yesterday with a technician from Apple Support trying to fix this issue without any success.

The only solution I have is to downgrade to Monterey, but that's another headache. I tried all the recommendations from Apple to use MacOS recovery, none of them worked!

Last hope is to restore from Time Machine last backup on Monterey, but I'll loose all the data created after the upgrade :)

I could also change my external screen, multiple display is actually working with other monitors I have, or eventually stop buying Apple products that get obsolete after 3 years nowadays.

There is definetely a bug when upgrading and Apple should do something about it

The adapter was working well before the update and only ventura caused this issued not just for me but for everyone else

i use thunderbolt to type c to hdmi adapter. It works well for other systems and god knows what apple has done as not a single individual has come up with a solution

and downgrade to montera would mean erasing all data. Its a freaking nightmare for me.
