It used to be possible to set an alert for 2 weeks before a birthday, but I can no longer see an option to do this. If I'm posting a card overseas, 1 week is not enough for it to arrive on time.
On the Alert panel, one of the timeframe options is Custom, and on that custom setting, you can set an alert on a specific date. That date would be set two weeks before the birthday.
