Is there a way to count mail from your top email s

Is there a way to get a report from mail that says I have X number of emails from each different sender? Even the top five would work?

This is one way that I will clean up my email. I will sort by the sender, but it can be very hard to find and I wanna clean up the Most at once

This makes me think that you have all of your mail left in your inbox... ouch!

If you manage your email in some meaningful way you will not be put in this position.

Perhaps the quickest way now is to make some mailboxes and create a few rules for those more relevant senders.

You could place all the messages from a given sender in a separate mailbox, then it would be easy to sort them by any criteria you want, and delete the stuff that is not relevant.

I could do this, but then I may not remember it all. I might have to do something and it's not in view. Or I don't remember who sent it. Do I move it once I've read it, or acted on it, or replied?

Organization seems like escaping a black hole.

I am not sure what you mean by this.

I could not work with, say, 3000 or 10000 messages in my inboxes. It would be nearly impossible to find anything (and probably slow down Mail, too).

You may work differently.

I have some rules that automatically gather some mail (like the ones I receive from these Apple discussions, such as this very one) and move it to a specific box, even before I read it. This works for me, because I have a mailbox for these discussions, and all the mail gets there. Besides, I may be working and only take care of it later, and I like that it does not get mixed with work e-mail.

Other things I move after reading. For example, I teach and some messages have to do with a particular course, and I file them accordingly; or some bureacratic duties, and likewise, I file them (in different boxes), and so on.

This is my way of organizing. I have hundreds of folders and boxes, in a hierarchy (e.g. Courses->2023->SomeParticularCourse).

It may not work for you.

My mind operates a bit differently. I"m on the Autistic Spectrum. And there are ways to do things that are so obvious to many tjhat don't work for me. And things that make no sense.

For example, when I clean up files, I scroll to each and look at it and then keep or delete. But each time I scroll, I'm, at the top of the list again. I would like it to keep my place or automatically go to the next item. I know I can get rid of most of my files (or emails), but it takes so long. Obviously, if I see the name of someone I will never hear from again, I can search for the name and delete it. My mind wants to work down a list and pick up from where I left off. (I can be very linear and also can be pretty rigid.)

How are you deleting? If you select the image and use the key combination of ⌘+Delete the photo will be moved to the Recently Deleted album and you'll be lest in the same location (This is in the Library/All Items view while viewing thumbnails). If I'm viewing the full sized version and use that key combination the next image in the library appears in the window.

If you're doing essentially what I've described try the following in order as needed:

1 - As a test launch Photos with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it? This tells us if the problem is limited to your current library or is more wide spread. Close the test library and reopen your current library and text it again.

2 - boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.
