Apple TV 4K Random HDMI Signal Loss

I have had more than one problem with apparent compatibility issues between AppleTV 4K and my LG OLED55B1PUA television.

For at least two years it was a serious lag between the Apple TV 4K’s (both 2nd and third gen) Siri Remote and AppleTV 4K (second and third gen) itself.

Turned out it was an apparent (signal) incompatibility between Apple TV 4K and LG TVs.

I suffered that extremely annoying problem for about two years and then one day, despite everything I tried, the problem just disappeared all by itself!

Was it Apple or LG or both and does it matter? It seems the problem was solved, right?

So for the last couple weeks (after an Apple TV 4K TVOS update, I am having a new and different issue with Apple TV 4K (3rd gen) flickering off and on (lost video signals) to the same LG TV. I researched it and found many others (again) with the same issue I am having.

No surprise.

But here’s the kicker. In both cases, the other users with the same issues offered the same solutions despite the problems themselves (switch the cables, move the devices further apart etc.) ALL had LG TVs. Most, if not all, of them LG OLED TV’s of various configurations.

I have to question if the problems mentioned between LG and Apple devices is and has always been Bluetooth (or other signal incompatibility issue) and will eventually be very quietly solved by software updates by one or both companies without acknowledgment.

The point being that I tried all the solutions (once again repeated for either issue) to have been a complete waste of a couple years worth of efforts and easily hundreds of dollars.

Is it LG, is it Apple or both? Does it matter? This is getting ridiculous.

Are you using the remote from LG and “allowed” it to control your other devices? I fought similar issues, turned off simplink CEC function on the LG, unplug everything. Restart and make sure the “magic” remote did not re-enable simplink CEC. Everything working since, except I can’t control all my device with single remote. Just a thought.

I am having this issue on a Samsung OLED. Funny thing is my updated OS on one Apple TV is when I started having issues. Tried swapping cables ports, settings. Even changed ATV video settings to 1080 and still had the issue of video cutting off and on.

I then remembered I had another same model Apple TV that hasn’t been turned on in almost 2 or 3 years so OS was not updated. Plugged it in and it worked like a charm. Had no issues whatsoever. Thought maybe the original Apple TV was going bad. I updated the second unit and here we are again with the video cutting on and off. I am going to also assume it is OS related. Really wish this would get fixed asap because it is really annoying

Same issue with ATV4K 3rd gen and Sony xbr75x950G random signal loss, tried new cable Ruipro high quality HDMI, short or long makes no difference. There is a problem with ATV4K software, factory resets don't work NOTHING WORKS for a year of utter frustration. Apple does not want to admit the flaw in the design and settings. I returned the ATV to costco and got a full refund and purchased a fire stick 4k no issues, the only problem is the Stick picture quality is not ATV4k quality the colors are so so, the speed slow and boot up slower yet.

COME-ON APPLE FIX THE PROBLEM and provide a statement when??? so I can gladly purchase another unit !

But not until then, will I support another Apple product period!!!!

Same exact thing. Bought our OLED48A2PUA in January, didn't hook it up until March. Suddenly started happening around late March/April. No idea why, but I do know there were updates installed and it could have been from one of those. Have you found any fixes since you commented? I tried all the plugging/unplugging, switching HDMI cords, trying new outlets, I even bought two additional nodes to make sure the signal was strong enough. Nothing helps. My G3 and AppleTV 4k get along fine in the other room, seems to only be this TV...
