Adjusting the font size smaller takes the annoying hyphen away when composing a text but that defeats the purpose of requiring a larger font! Is their any other way to have a larger font for texting and not have the annoying hyphen ? You'd think Apple could figure this one out

Thanks for the screenshot. Are you referring to the hyphen within the word “playoff?”
If so, that’s just the English Language’s way of showing that when two words are separate because there’s no more space at the end of the line, the two words should actually be joined together as one.
So, this hyphen cannot be removed. If the text would just put the whole word “playoff” down to the next line, and did that for each such word, the text would theoretically be very high, and would only contain a few words per line.
