Speed Check on Maps

How do you turn off the speed check notification when using Maps. I’ve never seen this feature before until now. Whenever I’m using Maps, it now tells me when there is a “speed check ahead” and it interrupts whatever music/podcast I’m playing while driving. It is very annoying.

Speed checks are actually very helpful. Just because you don’t see the speed check doesn’t mean it’s not there. They try not to be obvious all the time. To turn OFF the notification you do have to silence the make itself. It gives you 3 options. Drive with alerts and turn by turn, Drive without the Navigation turn by turn but keep alerts on, or silence the entire system. Also a quick note. Speed checks aren’t for notifying you police are around, it’s designed to have Apple check (according to an article online) the speed of the area to maintain accuracy of speed limits in that area. But we all use it to warn other drivers of speed traps and we should all continue to do so.

I have the same issue. They've just started coming up repeatedly.

I also get 'heat advisory' and 'hazard ahead' warnings several times an hour. They are very distracting and almost never indicate any actual hazard.

I'm hoping someone knows how to turn off ALL pop ups on the map. They are distracting and unhelpful. It's gotten so bad lately I may need to switch to a different mapping app that doesn't constantly distract me.

The speed check popped up for the first time ever for me this past weekend and at the time I was not playing any music. So I found your post researching how this happened. So I am just learning about it also. Sorry my post was of no use. it actually alerted me to an actual speed check so I was thankful for it. Even though I was not exceeding the speed limit.

I’ve found them useful in Western Australia. The first time it went off I didn’t even know it was a thing and lo and behold one of those speed cameras they set up for a few days to a week was ahead.

I’ve just found it difficult borderline impossible to actually report anything while driving as Siri thinks I’m asking for directions to a location.

Oh I’m sorry. I thought we were both just talking about things that didn’t matter. My apologies. I also I agree with your stance that Apple shouldn’t allow use of its phones to persons under the age of 18 due to the proliferation of po?n on websites. I mean shame on them for allowing anyone under 18 to use their phones. They should be held accountable… not the websites, not the parents, not the individual, not the internet providers but Apple should be ashamed of themselves. Pftt to think they just sit idle while this is happening in their backyard. Add don’t get me started on 5G and mind control. They allow their phones to have 5G antennas knowing…. Never mind, I don’t want them to disappear me.
