Satechi Stand Hub for Mac Mini is not working with Mac Mini M2 Pro Machine

Hi There

I have been using the Satechi Mac mini hub for almost two years now with my M1, and it has worked perfectly fine. Recently, I upgraded to the M2 Pro Mac mini, but unfortunately, the hub's card reader slots have stopped working. However, when I plugged it back into my M1, the card reader worked without any issues. After doing some research, it seems that the M2 chips may not be compatible with the Satechi hub, as I have come across similar issues from other users online.

Please note that the M2 is compatible with the Audio jack, 3x USB, and USB-C plugs located on the front of the device, but not with the card reader slots.

I reached out to Satechi and received a response, but unfortunately, they do not provide any solutions.

"We have seen issues with the M2 Mac Mini on some forums in some occasions, but have tested this on our end and can confirm compatibility with this hub as well as our other hubs/adapters/docks."

Does anyone have a solution?

I've the same issure on my Mac mini M2 Pro 2023 running Sonoma 14.3.

It seems that the Satechi stand conneted directly to any USB-C port of the mac mini M2 only supports storage less then 2GB.

The is no limit in storage size when connecting any USB-hub between the Satechi stand und the mac mini or connected directly to any other Mac.

That Allow Accessories to Connect may only appear when something triggers it in the operating system. I have Ventura 13.4 installed on an M2 Mac Mini Pro and it is missing on mine too. Quit System settings. Unplug the Satechi hub. Power off your mini. Reattach the USB-C cable from the Satechi, and then power up the mini. Does that Allow Accessories to Connect selection now appear in Settings > Privacy & Security panel?

Another hiccup I've come across is my M2 Pro Mac Mini doesn't have an option "Allow accessories to connect." as stated in the Apple article online—If your Mac asks you to allow an accessory to connect - Apple Support.

Apple's online help can't tell me why this option is unavailable for my system (see screenshot). I'm curious if this is the issue.

This option doesn't appear in safe mode as well
