Esim - how to scan esim QR codes from photos?

Hello again. This may have already been offered as a solution but I have just found that with my iphone 12 model I can long hold the QR code received in the email which then gives me the option to Add eSIM.

Hey mate

all you need to do is go to settings-mobile- select add eSIM ( this should be in blue)

It will take you to a screen with scanQRcode for an option

select that

ignore the camera that you will see instead choose the option where it says open photos

select the photo with that QR code and Bob is your uncle in my case his name is Mehdi

For anybody who can't hold down and activate, send a screenshot of the qr code to yourself via email and then hold down on the screenshot in your mail app. The bottom option should be "Add eSIM"

I am nit very good at this stuff but, can you pull the picture up on your computer and then scan with your camera?

Scanning a QR Code with the Photos App:

A. You can't. You need to use the Camera app.

1. Go Here: Scan a QR Code with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
2. As it Reads: You can use the Camera app to scan a QR code.

So, what to do..

B. Scan a Saved Image:

So, open the Camera app, and then scroll left or right on the bottom to where it reads "PHOTO". Then, you can select the QR code from the image.

That reply was not helpful at all. Please reread the question, as I have the same one. The problem is the image is in the email on the phone. If you are travelling & only have your phone, how do you scan the image using your camera on the email image on your phone?

Provide More:

Are there lines in the corners of the QR code? If not, then you just can’t select it. Clicking the link on the bottom-corner of your phone, does any thing open?

Try this:

open the email and adjust the size of the qr code

take a screenshot

open photos

select the screenshot

press and hold the QR code.

Thank you. Just gave that a try and it appears to work although still doesn’t explain why the option to select QR Code from Photos has disappeared.

Noticed the feature disappear from the latest update. This makes just that much more inconvenient.
