Spam email blocking

Is there any way to block emails from a single source with slightly different email addresses? Here is an example “****@68226.irkaspersky.com”. They change the email address by changing the 3 numbers before the @ sign and the 5 numbers after. The info. and the irkaspersky remains constant for all emails. This gives them millions of combinations. Perhaps there is a way to block any address containing “irkapersky”. The subject changes also. The To: address seems to be a mailing list Fellow Investors but if you click on it it’s “***@icloud.com for all the ones I checked. Some days we get over a 100 of these.

thanks

No as soon as the rules are set up they should be evaluating. Try blocking on similar message content as well. I would also recommend just blocking the senders as they appear as well. This will prevent future messages from that sender. Obviously they can change their email to bypass this.

Unfortunately once your email is out there it's impossible to really stop spam emails. You could create a new email and have your Apple ID use it. Don't give this email out to anyone. Instead use What is Hide My Email? - Apple Support. This prevents anyone from knowing your true email. Don't like the spam? Deactivate that email address and you will stop receiving emails. No one knows your real email and therefore you just deactivate the Hide My Email address that is being spammed.

Hello richardw1971,

You can setup email rules if there are any consistency within the email. As an example say they always are messaging you about a "donation to a Bitcoin wallet". You can setup an inbox rule where anything with the content "donation to a Bitcoin wallet" will be either removed, blocked, or whatever actions you wish to take.

I'd have to double check if you can use REGEX with rules to block senders, but I'm not aware of this. I think your best bet is looking for similarities in the display name or content of the email and blocking based on that.

I hope this helps!

EDIT:

On Mac you can set up a rule to say

If the From address contains "irkaspersky[.]com do xyz.

I have iCloud access via the web disabled for security reasons so I cannot check there, but if you're using a MacBook this is possible.

I set it up as suggested but I still keep getting the spam on multiple devices. It looked like it should stop the spam as you outlined. I also tried setting up a rule on the distribution list and that didn't work. I tried rebooting but no help. Perhaps there is something else that needs to be done as part of the rule startup? thanks for the suggestions!
