Backup No Longer Working Ove Xfinity Wi-Fi - Getting "Poor Network Conditions" Error Message

I can no longer backup over Xfinity Wi-Fi. I've reset the network settings, reset the modem, and even got a new Xfinity modem. I keep getting an error message saying "The last backup could not be completed because of poor network conditions". The network conditions are not poor.

Well I did… recommend from senior technician- I do have many smart devices- as I was told yes all work on both but some work better ( I believe iPhone 11 Pro Max ) and older ones work better on 2.4 - he also said now there is a 6 on newer devices- he updated all in my Xfinity app for me

I am by far not a technical person at all and don’t pretend to be- I just want what works for everything I am paying for correctly

I do agree - this problem needs to be fixed and quickly

He actually said he has not heard of issue as of yet

He also gave me his number to call if I had issues- but he felt strongly this would resolve for now. Earlier last week I did copy this link to upper executives and did receive a call- and kept my ticket opened

By now they have to know there is a major issue

I can only hope it’s sooner than later for all our sanity. It’s absolutely unacceptable

Yes, although it may not continue. I backed up my iPad Mini5 and updated my apps using Ethernet. Quick and easy. Doesn’t mess with router settings.

Then…My iPad 9th Gen was doing fine but stopped in the middle of the Security Update 16.5.1, and then gave me the wifi message. My printer suddenly couldn’t find the network. My MacBook stopped syncing photos.

I both unplugged my Gateway and disconnected the coax for a while (wires have capacitance), then reset the Gateway and restarted everything. Eventually everything worked again! I hope it continues but doubt it will. I know how to manage the fixes, but shouldn’t have to.

Hi, all. Just wanted to check in to say that backing up and updating software via an ethernet connection was successful and very easy. I had to order two different adapters from Amazon (thanks to Kevin for his recommendations). I needed one for a lightning connection for my IPad 9, and another with an USB C for my IPad 10. They were both about $12 each, overnight delivery. I had an ethernet cable. Worked like a charm.

Weirdly, after some initial problems, my iPhone 12 backed up over wifi. And after days of having the Security Response grayed out because it said there was no wifi connection, it downloaded on its own overnight. It's a mystery.

Yes - spent 45 minutes with Apple tech support today (July 22) and 2 hours with xfinity. Endless dropped calls and blame shifting. Apple told me to go the King of Prussia, PA store - an appointment must be made! - in order to back up to iCloud and get to iOS 16.5.1(c) on my iPhone 12.

Two corporate behemoths sticking it to their customers. Sickening.

It seems as if this problem is happening with both the XB7 and XB8 devices. And some are having problems with iPhone, some with iPad, some both. My issue began o/a the third week of June, and I seem to recall Xfinity announcing that they would be in the neighborhood making "upgrades" to a 10 G system, a misnomer. I wonder if anyone else had a similar experience.
