How ro separate ringer volume from notificaciones volume

Hey community ;)! So i think my problem vas a very easy solution, i just can't figure it out. So i got an IPhone 14 plus on April and i'm in love with it, but everytime im going into an App like TikTok and i lower the volume with the lateral buttons because i dont want to watch the video with a loud volume, it also affects my ringtone and notification volume, so at moments i cant even hear my phone ringing or at moments it sounds super loud. So how can i separate these two things? I had an iPhone 8 Plus before and i never had that problem! Please help :(

justinb2603,

Is there a way to have a louder volume for ring tones while having a lower volume for notifications?

I have an iPhone 12 Max Pro and currently when I change the volume it puts my ring tone volume and my notification volume at the same volume together, when I prefer to have my ringtone loud and my notifications at a lower volume.

Hey! Thanks!! I have already done that but i feel like it doesn't change anything, i don't know if my phone is damaged but i can't even listen a voicenote in WhatsApp privately. I have to adjust the slider constantly and multiple times a day and it's so stressing and confusing! :( . Somehow, ir the slider in control center is on mute, my phone sounds extremely loud, but if it's to it's maximum level then my phone is on mute, even with the "change whit buttons'' option turned off!

Hello nat_mb,

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. We see you're having trouble turning down the volume on videos without your side buttons turning down your ringer as well. We can help.

To start, you can change your settings in a way that the side buttons will not affect your ringer volume. Here is how:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll to Sound & Haptics
  3. Toggle "Change with buttons" to the off position

More info can be found here: Adjust the volume on iPhone

This will enable you to adjust the volume without the side buttons affecting the ringtone and notification volume.

Another way to adjust your volume would be the Control Center. Swipe down on the top right side to see the volume slider in Control Center. To learn more about Control Center, follow: Access Control Center on your iPhone

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hi nat_mb,

We appreciate those additional details. Next, let's ensure your iPhone is fully updated. This installs feature improvements and fixes that can resolve unexpected behavior like this. These steps from Update your iPhone or iPad show how to back up and update:

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

If this continues after updating, then reach out to Apple Support next. They would be the best equipped to investigate these issues further. Contact them here: Get Support

Cheers!

Hii! I also had this same problem and after some researching, I had found all you need to do is go to

  • Settings
  • click on sounds & haptics
  • then turn on “Change with Buttons”

Once you turn your ringer on, you can use your volume button to raise the volume of your ringer! It also doesn’t affect the volume of your videos!

I hope I could help!

Feature requests with Apple are not really useful since Apple won’t report and or share any information about them.

This problem has been around as long as I can remember just like not having a dismiss button on the Siri answer screen. Apple does not believe in transparency. It would be really great to have a list with the requests along with the number of people requesting it.
